I think I mentioned in a previous post that my mom is in Tahiti for the next month or two (or three). And while I am sure she is having a fabulous time, it leaves me with no one to talk to. Being the multitasker that I am, I'm one of those bad people that loves to talk on my cell phone while I am driving--And since my mom is #1 on my speed dial and retired...you can just go ahead and guess who I usually call first.
Since I've just confessed to breaking driving laws in several states, I might as well fess up to the fact that I do occasionally still call my mom "Mommy" (OK, fine--I call her that all the time!) Weird, I know. I'm not sure what happened but apparently I skipped over that stage growing up (I'm assuming during my tween years) when it became not "cool" anymore to say the word Mommy. I actually remember trying to call her "Mom" once. We were in Sears, one of her favorite stores at the Woodfield Mall. I kept calling for her and calling for her and she wouldn't answer. I AM SURE that she heard me--and I've been stuck like this ever since. So when the time comes and my kids decide they are too old to call me Mommy, I'll embrace the change (and make sure I answer them!)PS--And just in case you think this is too weird, I know of at least two other adults who call their mom "Mommy" as well...
